Printer Friendly PageCompositions are considered and evaluated by the Adjudicator prior to the Festival, and the performance itself is then judged on the day. It is therefore essential that all compositions arrive in time for the Adjudicator to have ample opportunity to consider and reflect upon the work long before the Festival itself.
All classes may be entered non-competitively

Composition & Performance
Compositions may be of any style for any combination of instruments. Composers must arrange a live performance. The class for 16 year olds and under is suitable for GCSE compositions, the class for over 16 years age for A Level compositions.

We have recently introduced two new categories where the composition need not be played live, but ‘presented’, eg a sound recording or equivalent, or video.
Composition & Presentation
The Competitor’s own composition reproduced in a suitable manner where live performance is impractical. The Competitor may need to provide their own playback equipment depending on what is required. Please speak to us well in advance so suitable arrangements can be made.

The Competitor’s own composition to accompany a film or video (which need not be the Competitor’s own work). The composition may form part of the film or video or be performed live alongside it.
