Welcome our Website for our 2025 Festival
We are very sorry to announce the sudden death on 25th February 2025 of our Chairman and Treasurer, Peter Macklin.
Peter was born and brought up in Devizes
After he came to Devon, he became involved with a number of voluntary organizations:
- Devon branch of the Society of Recorder Players
- Shaftsbury Theatre in Dawlish
- Devon Performing Arts Festival
- Exeter Cathedral Music Foundation
In all his activities, he willingly gave his time and skills as an accountant and organizer.
Peter was also a life-long recorder player and played in the Exeter Recorder Orchestra and a smaller group, Pinwood Pipes (who participated regularly in the Festival). He would play any part in a group with skill and enthusiasm.
Peter’s sound judgement, cheerful disposition and hearty laugh made him a wonderful person to be with, and made any tricky situation so much easier to negotiate. His input to the Festival has been invaluable.
